Due to improvements in nutrition and vet care, dogs are living longer than ever before. Since they are living longer, dogs face more chronic degenerative conditions that affect their quality of life in a major way.

Just imagine your furry friend going from jumping up to catch the frisbee mid-air to barely getting up from their bed as they get older.

Other common signs of age or injury-related problems include:

  • Reluctance to walk up a set of stairs or to jump up
  • Stiffness in their joints
  • Slow to rise from the ground
  • Abnormal gait

If you start noticing these kinds of behaviours in your dog, it might be time to talk to your vet about supplementing with chondroitin to help maintain and repair their cartilage.

Chondroitin can give your ageing dogs comfort and extend their years of mobility, but it also benefits younger pups as well.

Active puppies can experience tendon and ligament injuries that can happen during playtime, regular activity, or even just jumping on or off the couch the wrong way. That’s why it’s important to make sure you have preventive care in the form of a supplement containing chondroitin. Shark cartilage is ultimately made out of and what makes it good for your joints — glucosamine and chondroitin.

Wild sharks live long lives, accumulating environmental toxins like mercury along the way. But fear not! All of the sharks we use are small-sized farmed sharks that are farmed mainly for human consumption. We do not source any of our sharks outside of the shark farm (aka the ocean) under any circumstances. We are aware of the ecological damages of wild shark finning on marine ecosystems and its ethical criticisms including within the legal space. We want to ensure our sharks are never wild caught and therefore is not ecologically damaging and do not contain toxins that may be transferred to your pet upon consumption.

Shark Cartilage is mostly know as a whole food source of glucosamine and chondroitin. Hence it is regularly used and prescribed by vets for dogs and cats that suffer with joint and mobility issues including arthritis and hip and elbow dysplasia and inflammations. Albeit in more expensive and wasteful capsule form (from a high margin pharmaceutical company).

Shark Cartilage is also claimed to boost the immune system, and to assist in the fight against some cancers, so as you can see shark cartilage is considered a great preventative as well for pets of any age.  While shark cartilage has not been scientifically proven to control or cure cancer, the link between Shark cartilage and anti cancer properties lies in the chemicals that inhibit the formation of blood vessels (which also assists relief for arthritic dogs). The inhibition of the formation of blood vessels is said to prevents nutrients reaching tumours which stops the formation of cancerous cells.

Main Shark Cartilage ingredients

  • Mucopolysaccharides (pain relief and healing dog joint cartilage)
  • Amino acids (protein)
  • Carbohydrates
  • Calcium / Phosphorus (in the correct ratio for health)

Shark Cartilage Dosage

If you are feeding a dog shark cartilage for calcium (on a raw diet) giving them about the same amount as you would chicken necks (1 or 2 sticks for a 20 kg dog) is typical per day.

In shark cartilage powder form, owners typically sprinkle it over wet dog food. For joint pain relief it is expected that results are usually seen in  3 weeks.
